Privacy policy.
This is a personal site. It sells nothing, has no accounts, and takes no payments. What it does collect is set out below in plain terms.

Who is responsible
This site, mariosfakiolas.com, is run by Marios Fakiolas, based in Athens, Greece. For anything in this policy, including requests to see or delete your data, email fakiolasmarios@gmail.com.
What is collected
There are three sources, and no others:
- Analytics, only if you accept. Google Analytics records page views, rough location, device and browser type, and the site you arrived from. This uses cookies, so nothing is loaded until you accept the banner. It is used to see which writing gets read, not to build a profile of you.
- Email signups. The signup forms on the publications pages are provided by Kit. If you request a guide, your email address is stored by Kit so the guide and occasional writing can be sent to you. Nothing is added without you entering it.
- Hosting logs. The site runs on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare processes standard request data, including IP addresses, to serve pages and protect against abuse.
Your cookie choice
Analytics cookies are off until you accept them. Your answer is remembered in your own browser so you are not asked on every visit, and you can change it at any time, as easily as you gave it.
What is stored in your browser
Two small items, neither of which tracks you: your cookie answer, and your light or dark theme choice. Both are kept in localStorage, the theme one so the site does not flash the wrong colours on the next visit. Neither is sent anywhere.
What is never done
Your data is not sold, rented, or passed to advertisers. There is no advertising on this site, and no third party is given your email address for their own use.
Third parties
The services above (Google, Kit, and Cloudflare) process data under their own privacy policies. This site also links out to places like Substack, LinkedIn, CIO.com, and Spotify. Once you follow a link, that site's policy applies, not this one.
How long it is kept
Your email address is kept until you unsubscribe or ask for it to be deleted, whichever comes first. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. Analytics and hosting data are kept for as long as the respective provider retains them under their own schedule.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or erased, object to or restrict how it is used, and withdraw consent at any time. Email the address above and it will be handled. If you are not satisfied with the response, you can lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. See also the terms of use for the rules covering the content itself.
