AI overdose

AI overdose

Last week, I had the pleasure of giving a motivational speech to a class of young aspiring tech professionals. It struck me how much proper guidance is needed to combat the pervasive Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) that’s hindering their progress.

A bright student shared his achievements with AI, his eyes gleaming with pride. He’s been exploring major AI platforms, building small applications, and experimenting with new technologies. His passion was palpable. Bravo!!

However, he soon revealed his frustration: "How can I ensure I receive a consistent answer regardless of the circumstances?"

He felt confused and skeptical about the varied responses from AI tools. Despite AI’s potential, the inconsistency in answers left him questioning its reliability. This made me realize that such uncertainty is a common hurdle for those without a deep understanding of AI technology.

Reflecting on my early days, I shared my struggles with algorithmic thinking. I relied on those iconic tech books with giant ants on the cover (I am sure you know the books 😅). Step by step, I moved from simple exercises to complex algorithms, gradually building my skills.

This journey of learning and problem-solving is crucial, and there is no actual cheat code. Today’s young engineers need similar structured guidance to navigate AI effectively. They must understand that AI tools are aids, not replacements for critical thinking.

We, as experienced professionals, must mentor them to harness AI’s benefits without falling prey to its inconsistencies. Let's help them build robust skills and avoid AI burnout.

By offering proper mentoring, we can ensure they thrive in this fast-paced tech world. Cheers to guiding the next generation of tech leaders!
